A word processor lets you work with text on a computer. It allows you to edit (change) the words you type at any time and even add pictures.
It is a type of generic software because you can use it for a variety of things:
- typing letters;
- making birthday cards;
- writing a newsletter;
- designing a poster.
A file containing text is usually called a document.
