Databases in Everyday Life

A database that holds information used to carry out a task is called a database management system. They can be split into three stages:
A School Attendance Database
Schools need to store information in a database about whether each child is in or not.
A Supermarket Database
Supermarkets need to store information in a database about all the products that they sell. This can then be used when scanning the barcodes of each of your purchases at a check-out.
