Emails arrive almost instantly unlike the postal system where a message could take days to reach its destination. It can be difficult to check who has sent you an email if their email address is unusual.
Emails can be sent very cheaply around the world. Parcels can not be sent by email.
Any sort of information (e.g. text, video) can be sent by email as an attachment. Not everybody in the world can use or access email.
